Falafel for all
by Devra First
The chefs at Sepal use only all-natural ingredients in their food, avoiding
sugar and dairy products whenever possible. Their health-conscious spin on
falafel is made of chickpeas, fresh vegetables, and herbs, and is available in
a baked, completely oil-free version. Miraculously, the patties taste just as
delicious as their deep-fried counterparts. For those who are tired of the
classic tahini-laced falafel sandwich ($4.25), Sepal offers a zesty
alternative: the "shepherd's falafel sandwich" ($4.75), in which the falafel is
smothered in a tangy, oniony tomato salad, then topped off with a mysterious
"special dressing." But that's okay -- you don't need to know what's in it. At
Sepal, it's bound to be good for you.
Sepal, located at 555 Mount Auburn Street, in Watertown, and 117 Broadway,
in Arlington, is open Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.
