In Coolidge Corner, where most modest eateries serve bagels, Bottega Fiorentina
-- part Italian market, part trattoria -- stands alone. Here you can indulge in
fresh-baked focaccia, sandwiches made with imported cheeses and meats, and
homemade pastas and sauces.
Each day of the week features a different soup, pasta, and meat dish.
Made-to-order sandwiches and salads ($4.50 to $6) are always available. One
Sunday afternoon, we enjoyed stuffed quail ($7.95), a prosciutto sandwich (with
fresh tomatoes, mozzarella, basil, and Prosciutto di Parma), and some homemade
gnocchi in tomato sauce with shrimp ($5.25).
Bottega Fiorentina has only one long picnic-style table, so customers
generally order take-out. Many people also pick up quality groceries, such as
imported pastas, olive oil, coffee beans, and biscotti.
Bottega Fiorentina, located at 313B Harvard Street (at Babcock), in
Brookline, is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; on Saturday
from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call
